Every September, gold ribbons go up for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Nearly 15,000 children and teens are diagnosed with cancer in the U.S. each year, according to the National Cancer Institute — but survival rates have climbed from about 20% in 1962 to over 80% today, according to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Surviving is only part of the story, though. Many young survivors carry lasting physical effects of treatment and need help rebuilding strength to get back to being kids. At Geaux Fight, we’re proud to stand alongside pediatric oncology teams in that recovery.
September is also Gynecologic Cancer Awareness Month — more on that soon. If someone you love is navigating childhood cancer, reach out — rehab can be part of the path forward.
